Empowering Inclusion: Stand Up and Play Foundation Joins National Adaptive Sport Day
On April 28, something powerful is happening. People across the country are coming together to celebrate National Adaptive Sport Day, a united effort to promote disability inclusion in sports and recreation. The Stand Up and Play Foundation, a nonprofit established in 2010, is proud to be part of this movement.
Nearly 1 in 5 Americans live with a disability, yet they remain underrepresented in sports and recreation. Not because they don’t want to play, but because the world hasn’t built enough accessible space. That’s exactly what we’re changing.
National Adaptive Sport Day is a celebration of what’s possible when we prioritize inclusion. It’s a day of awareness, action, and advocacy, honoring the legacy of trailblazers like Judy Heumann and Eli Wolff, and commemorating the anniversary of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
At Stand Up and Play, we’re committed to creating opportunities for people of all abilities to engage in sports and recreation. We’re joining forces with athletes, advocates, and organizations across the country to make a difference.
Join us on April 28 as we celebrate National Adaptive Sport Day. Together, we can create a world where everyone has the chance to play, regardless of their abilities. Let’s make inclusion the norm, not the exception.
